When people ask where Tug Hill is, I’ll often go to google maps, turn on the satellite and point out the dark green blob off the east end of Lake Ontario. “This is Tug Hill” I’ll say. But in all seriousness, we’re fortunate to live in such a unique wild area within a 5 hour drive of NYC, Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa.

The Tug Hill is a unique geological feature shooting up to nearly 2000ft above sea level off the east end of Lake Ontario. When cold air goes across the warm lakes in the winter time, it generates “Lake Effect Snow”. Tug Hill is known for being the snowiest place east of the Rockies. We literally measure storms in snow. Less than a foot doesn’t really register.

With that in mind, Native Americans didn’t really live in the heart of the Tug Hill, but they used the area in the summer for hunting Whitetail Deer. Today people come from all over to hike, hunt, fish, snowmobile and enjoy the outdoors that our area has.

We named this coffee “Whitetail” because of the Whitetail Deer that live in the area. While almost all our coffees are single origins, this is a Central American blend. It’s smooth, with notes of caramel and chocolate. Enjoy the big green blob we affectionately call “Tug Hill”.
