The Pache Natural is from Alex Portillo's farm, Finca El Corintio of the Marcala region of Honduras. A group of us were able to visit Alex's farm in March of this year. Alex is continuing to work on improving the quality of his coffee production. In the next few years Alex is focusing on building a micro-mill that will enable him to focus on processing his quality at the high level he would like to. Alex is also finishing a degree in coffee agriculture at the local university in Comayagua.
One of the things that I (Scott) really respect and appreciate about Alex is how he follows up with the coffee roasters he works with. We are Alex' primary coffee roaster in the US. In October, Alex called and we spoke for an hour about everything from recapping how the new logistics we had set up was performing to how the coffees were doing in the cup.
We hope you enjoy this coffee. It's the Pache Varietal processed as a Natural. Cheers!
