“Conductor”
Guatemala
Washed
Horatio Hough of Martinsburg, NY was active in the Abolitionist Movement and became a “conductor” on the Underground Railroad. Harboring fugitive slaves in his home and nearby cave, “Conductor” Hough, as he was called, helped run-away slaves, or “passengers,” avoid recapture along their route to Canada. Today, a historical marker commemorating “Hough’s Cave” can be seen along Route 26. It is thought that “passengers” could hide in Hough’s Cave by rowing a boat deeper inside into a larger cavern.
He was a man of great conviction who recognized and used his power and privilege to give freedom and opportunity to those who had none.
“Armando’s Natural”
San Agustin, Honduras
Finca la Moradita
Yellow Colombia Varietal
Finca la Moradita is named after the purple flower that Armando grows throughout the farm. When we visited his farm in early spring 2023 we were really blown away by Armando’s care and vision for the land his family has farmed for generations. In addition to coffee, Armando grows fruits, vegetables, grazes cattle, and there’s even a tilapia farm.
“Ihcatu”
Santa Ana, Honduras
Finca el Corinto
Washed Process
Sometimes you just stumble into a good thing. Alex and I met in Guatemala in 2023. In November of 2024 we were able to visit his farm. After meeting in Marcala, Honduras, we took off for an hour-long trip on muddy dirt roads to his farm. It was dark when we arrived and Noah and I had no idea where we were. The next morning Alex took us for a walk around his farm. He plants many different coffee varietals with Pacamaras, Ihcatu, and Catuai to name a few. He’s also a great processor of coffee. Very multifaceted Alex also is a trained cupper and made it to the Honduran cupping finals this year. We are excited to work with Alex for a long time.
“Pablo’s Natural”
Fraijanes, Guatemala
Finca el Jardin
Catuai Varietal
This coffee comes from our long-time partners at Finca el Jardin, Pable and Eva Del Cid. Pablo is always experimenting and refining his coffee processing methods and this Natural Catuai is no exception. It was fermented for 8 days in a cool, airtight environment. This allows the coffee to develop deep character without over-fermentation.
