The first time I cupped this coffee was at the Houston SCA annual convention. Finca El Jardin had a booth and Pablo invited me to hang out with him and try to sell more of his coffees to North American Roasters. It was a fun weekend and I've always enjoyed our partnership over the years.
It can get a bit competitive for Pablo and Eva's coffees This coffee is the Pacamara varietal. In Guatemala "Grano Grande" (Big Bean) or "Grandioso" (Magnificent) are names used for the Pacamara. It's one of the largest coffee beans out there and as you know, it's one of my favorites. The bean is large and can be difficult to evenly roast though. After a bunch of sample roasts and cuppings we decided a low temperature, but longer development stage is the way to go.
This and the Anacafe-14 are Pablo and Eva's best lots of 2025. We're really excited to have gotten a few of them and we hope that you really enjoy them. With the Grano Grandioso we're picking up on vanilla Raspberry and Hibiscus. Cheers!
