Roasting Specialty Coffee in the Tug Hill Region
Ethiopia Worka Sakaro
$16.00
Ethiopia is the birthplace of coffee. As the legend says a goat started eating the coffee cherries and the caffeine caused it to jump all over the place. The shepherd was interested and tried some cherries and while there's a lot more to the story, we'll just say that the rest is history.
Coffee still grows wild in parts of Ethiopia. This is a regional blend of washed coffees from 294 farmers of the SNNPR (Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples Regions).
At Tug Hill Artisan Roasters we love roasting coffees from all around the world. That being said, for our coffee of the month program we tend to focus a lot on the coffees being produced by our direct trade partners and we currently don't have any direct trade partners in Ethiopia. Catalogue Coffee Merchants out of Toronto, Canada suggested this coffee and we're grateful to them for pursuing such great coffees from places where we do not have direct trade relations.
It's a nice washed blend of heirloom varietals from Ethiopia. We were picking up on black tea and pear notes with a subtle toffee sweetness. We really hope you enjoy this coffee.
