Cafe Imports, one of our import partners, has a program in Kenya where they highlight various origins with some top lots from those locations. In English this is called the "Regional Select" in Swahili, "Uteuzi Jimbo" This coffee is an exemplary coffee from the Nyeri region of Kenya. The farms are located between Mount Kenya and the Aberadare Mounains and are rich with volcanic soil and flowing water.
This coffee is a blend of SL-28, SL-34, Batian and Ruiru 11. All of these varietals of coffee originated in Africa. I've also had some good SL-28s from Central and South America, but there is something unique about this varietal when grown in the terroir of East Africa.
This coffee is a fantastic East African coffee. Grown at over 4,900 and washed after harvest, we're picking up on notes of Honey, Currant and Rose.
